When Truman Godfrey was first introduced to indoor kart racing by moving in 2003 from St. Louis, Mo. to Phoenix, AZ. and visiting F1 Race Factory which had just opened, he had no thoughts of being 2005 U.S. Indoor Kart Champion or winning 346 indoor kart races or of being named twice IKRL Indoor Kart Driver of the Year (2005 & 2007). Truman thought this was a fun way to spend some time with some of his friends who worked there.
After competing in local leagues and being competitive in the first outings he went to Bondurant Racing Schools in Phoenix, AZ to take his skill level up a notch. During his brief stint as an indoor kart racer he has been able to amass over 300 wins, has twice won the AZIKC Championship, and has been Captain of the U.S. Indoor Kart Champions three years in a row. In 2006 his Venom Energy Drink Team was able to win the IKWC Team Championship for the U.S. He has won nine straight F1 Race Factory Pro League Championships, he was in Second Place in the 2007 IKWC and had a throttle cable break on the first lap of the race which dashed his hopes for a World Championship eventually finishing 6th to go with his 6th and 9th Place finishes the previous two seasons.
